4 Artists

Research and write a paragraph summary about four 20th century photographers of your choice. You are to include two images of work from each of the four photographers (research online) with each summary. 
Here are some photographers from which you can choose.
 







 
Man Ray was born on August 27, 1890 as Radnitzky. He is a famous modernist artist who considered himself a painter. Man Ray had multiple major works in the fashion industry and portraits. He spent most of his career in Paris, France. Man Ray also contributed to certain movements like the dad and surrealist movement. Another thing he is known for are photo grams. A photogram is a picture made without using a camera. Its made using light and a light sensitive material.


Ansel Adams was born on February 20, 1902. He was a landscape photographer and an environmentalist. Adams was most famously know for his photography at Yosemite park. The image is still famous today. Ansel decided that he wanted higher resolution so he used larger format cameras. he developed something called the zone system that made to help determine the proper exposure.














Walker Evans was born on November 3,1903. He was another American photographer who was mostly known for working with the FSA, Farm Security Administration. He basically took pictures that showed how the great depression impacted the lives of the people. He, like Ansel Adams, also used a large format camera. Most of his works today are displayed in museums like the Metropolitan museum of Art.













Cindy Sherman was an American photographer who took many conceptual photos. Cindy began to become interested in art attending Buffalo State University. She started out painting but when she didn't like what she seen. She decided to get together with fellow artists and the founded an art center. Her photography consisted of many photographs of herself in multiple costumes. She also took fashion photos for French vogue magazine.

Unit 3 Blog 1

1. Get down on their level.                     
                           
The eye level image is able to show more inviting feelings and make the gazes more appealing.

2. Using a plain background.
Using a plain background makes the subject of the image stand out.

3. Using flash outdoors.
Using a flash outdoors will help lighten up darker shadows. It can also be used to help brighten up a face.



4. Move in close.
Moving in close can help fill your picture. Moving in close keeps distractions out of the picture.

5. Take some vertical pictures.
Some subjects look better vertical because you get the entire effect.

6. Lock the focus.
Locking the focus creates sharper images.

7. Move it from the middle.
Moving the subject matter to the side gives it a more appealing look. You have to be aware that the camera usually focuses on the center of the view finder, so you have to lock you focus.

8. Know the flashes range.
If you take a picture out of the flashes range the image will be to dark .

9. Watch the light.
When taking a picture outside make sure to avoid overhead lighting to avoid harsh shadows.

10. Be a picture director.
Directing a picture by adding props gives the pictures more of a personality.
