Landscape 3

Cassandra Levering

The image to the left is a picture taken with digital photography while the picture on the right is a painting. The two images have the same subject matter a river and trees. The photographer can only take the colors that the subjects are unless using photoshop while the painter can use any color that they would like to use. However if the painter messes up they would have to do something to improvise or they would need to restart.

Landscape 2

In the image to the left there is a paved road going through a green forest. This image shows that the humans driving in car is destroying the earth. The pollution kills the animals that live in those green forests and therefore will destroy the earth. I feel like this image shows leading lines.
Ali Erturk

The image to the right almost show the same idea as the one to the left. The boats in this image are in the rule of thirds grid. the image shows how the oils from the boat has an effect on the sea life. Also going to destroy all of the fish and sea creatures.

Walker Evans

In this image i feel like he is trying to show how the industry is killing the world. I get this because the factories behind the cemetery. Factories are apart of modern industry. The cemetery represents death. the small building in the back of the factories

time 4

This image was taken using a slow shutter speed. The subject is a person made out of light. the background is a natural setting involving a field and trees with an orange sky. the photographer could have had difficulty telling where he had already made marks. also he could have ran out of time before he finished moving the light.

time 3

These images display the use of fast shutter speeds. The image to the left shows a young girl and a young boy running on the beach. the image to the right shows. a girl jumping on the beach and she appears frozen.

The image to the right shows a young girl and a young boy jumping in the air. The image was taken at a fast shutter speed to make them appear frozen. The dog to the right is the same. It is running and frozen in time.

The following images were taken using a slow shutter speeds. The two men are running and jumping and they are blurred due to the slow shutter speed.

The image to the left is of a person riding a horse and its taken with a slow shutter speed. the other image is of a track team running but they are blurry because the slow shutter speed.

time activity 2

This image has a simple dark background which put emphasis on the subject. the subject if this image is the fist punching through the water. The water is coming out of the faucet. the photographer could of had difficulty with motion blur and they could have had trouble capturing the image at the right time.

Time activity 1

This image taken by Henri Carter-Benson, was caught in the perfect moment. A soviet union solider holding his son. I believe that by capturing this picture while the child is looking away and the dad is looking at the camera it adds emotion to the photo.

Light Activity 4

This image, of the yellow flowers, is and example of maximum shallow depth of field. the main focus is the flowers so they used shallow depth of field to eliminate the distracting background.

This image, of the railway station, is an example of maximum depth of field because all of the subjects are in focus. They used a smaller aperture to ensure that every single element of the picture is sharp.

The image, of the red flowers, is an example of shallow depth of field. they red flowers are the main focal point in the image, meaning that the other distracting elements such as the background were thrown out of the image.

The image, of the building, is an example of maximum depth of field. they used a smaller aperture to include all of the elements into the image including the framing tree line.

This image, with the girl, was taken into the light. the light source, which is unknown, is behind the girl making it so the image was lit from the back.

Jim Zuckerman
This image of the elephant was lit up using the sun as the light source. the sun is behind the walking elephant. this means that the image was taken into the light because the camera is facing the light source.

Light Activity 2

Bowman! on Flickr
This image "Street Dreams" uses one light source to light up the picture. The single light source is clearly at the top left side of the picture, its brightness gives the picture of kind of dark creepy sense.

Micke Jacobson
The image "Light" uses one light source to brighten the image. The single light source is place in front of the young girls face. In return the light source brightens up the young girls face and she becomes the focal point of the image.

LIGHTING 1

Jim Harmer
Jim Harmer
This picture was taken using had light. The hard light in this image added texture to the hands and the fingertips. the mood of this picture seems dark.
The image of the women was taken with soft lighting. The lighting makes the mood of the picture feel happy.

Frame and Composition Activity 4

shadow
LISA on sideoatsandscribbles.com

The subject was placed on the side and the shadow of the subject makes the picture balanced.

Sailboat on water-horizon middle

This boat was placed in the center of the photo and it made the photo balanced because it has about the same amount of space on both sides.

Frame and Composition Activity 3

This is and example of rule of thirds because the young girl is not centered. She is in the left top corner of the rule of thirds diagram.

This is an exaMple of rule of thirds because the palm tree is in the top right corner of the rule of thirds grid.

Frame and Composition activity 2

Painted by Gustave Caillebotte

  1.  I think that John Szarkowski means that the photographer look at a subject differently. "Out of context means that the picture doesn't tell the entire story.
  2. The public could have been shocked to see these paintings because they look realistic. The paintings were completely accurate on how real life looked.
